I am having problem with MITSUMI USB floppy disk as described http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=usb/123611. The situation is exactly same; it runs on 6.x but not 7.x.

Check if this patch still applies. If so, it is still worth than current situcation.

Although it is a skewed opinion, I personally never needed more than 10 levels. Even these 10 levels were too much I never used them fully.

Despite the fact, FreeBSD restore has bugs such that multilevel restore does work well even at 7.0-RELEASE.

The cause of freeze is "snapshotting." Background fsck takes a snapshot and runs fsck on it. It is not really a bug but implementation limitation.

gjounral(8) may help in such situation from 7.0-RELEASE.

By the way, based on my experience, background takes about twice longer than foreground fsck.

Patch at http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=bin/17363 looks still applicable to http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/usr.sbin/cron/crontab/crontab.c?rev=1.25.

「mhattaによる 2007年02月25日 3時00分の掲載ビフォーアフター部門より．」の所に目がいき、かつ内容がとても読みやすく校正されていたので、自分のタレこみが採用されていたのに気が付くのに、五日も掛かった！！！最初に自分が書いたものは、メーリングリストに投稿されていたのを要点だけ邦訳しただけだったので、他の人が投稿したのかとずっと思っていたのです。

投稿された意見やリンクも参考になりました。mhatta さんと投稿して頂いた皆さんありがとうございます。

どのディストリビューションがいいのだろう。ここ何日か探し回っているが、合うものが一つもない。昔はお勧めのディストリビューションの道標の様なものはよく見つかったのに。

とりあえず、サポート期間が最低 5 年ぐらいで、なるべく手間の掛からないもの、かつ無料。そして、セキュリティ関連のアップデートも簡単。ソフトウェアを入れるときは、一つ入れようとしたせいで、ほとんど全てがいもヅル式に更新されないもの。折角 Linux だから Sun 配布の Java が一切問題なく動くもの。でも Java は無くてもいいかな。

なかなか、気分的にこれだって思うものがないね〜
